A Few Changes
In the southern part of the state, we can expect rapid changes to weather. The weather has been very up and down, but we can only expect it to get a lot hotter from here on out. And when I say hot, I mean HOT – we do live in the desert! By the end of the week it is expected to be 90 degrees. Because of this, we have changed our afternoon physical education class to the early morning. Half of the house does PE right after they wake up and the other half does it after breakfast. Us in the educational department find it helpful for the students to be more awake in class. Getting the blood flowing early in the morning has proven alertness to the mind and therefore in the classroom. The students seem to be adjusting well.
We are also coming into the hiking season. On Fridays we get off campus to do some educational outings and now that the weather is getting warmer, we will be doing a lot of hikes. Our last outing was to the Snow Canyon State Park to explore the caves. However, before we “played” we cleaned up after those before us and gathered up a whole bunch of garbage out of the caves. We then got out the glow sticks and had some fun of our own playing a little bit of hide-and-seek. The girls really enjoy these outings – and so do we.
I am going to leave you today with one of my favorite quotes:
“A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” -Jackie Robinson
